I think that this is great for a first webpage! I like your pictures a lot. I think that, if you had time, you should set up a little game or a quiz about the zooplankton. You could make it a matching game with hints, etc. Good Luck at school!

I am forty-two years old and read my first durrell book when i was about twelve. I have laughed and cried and formed my love of animals and their habits through his reading. I did not realize until doing a search on him today that he had died and I mourn the passing of a great and compassionate man. Thank you for pulling this web site together!

Thanks so much for putting together an informative page. I had wondered what had happened to Gerald Durrell and had had no luck with conventional research. do you know what ever became of his first wife, Jacquie, who features in many of his best (early) books? There was never any mention of what happened, just all of a sudden Lee Durrell is on the scene.

I want to ask you this: I am trying to get a copy of the film my Family   etc. When I have found ti listed it says it is only 23 minutes long. When I saw it it seemed like a feature film. Can you tell me what you think about this? 23 minutes sounds more like one part of a made for television series.

The first time I read My Family and Other Animals I was only a little girl but I was delighted with GD's humor. Hi, Mealanie. Thank you very much for signing my guestbook. I am very glad that you liked it. Now, about that trip. This is my second research cruise. The first one was for two weeks off the coast of Virginia, but this one was a shorty: only 6 days. The sampling area (where we took the samples) was in the New York Bight and the furthest stat on was about 120 miles into the ocean. The trip was organized by a Master's student of the professor for who I work. He studies the coupling of biological and physical processes (like currents, floor topography, etc.) and the settlement of juvenile benthic fishes. We used a beam trawl to catch juvenile fish. The smallest of them (no longer than 3-4 cm) we preserved in ethanol, while larger juveniles and young adults were just measured and released back into the ocean. I actually have some pictures from that trip on my computer and if you want, as soon as you get an E-mail address, I'll send them to you. Also, you gave me an idea to create a page with some pictures from those two trips. But for that I would need a scanner, though. Could you please tell me how did you find my page?
